Elektro microscopy
Fibrecount has its own raster-electron microscope (SEM), as well
as a transmission electron microscope (TEM). The SEM and TEM are
used to identify asbestos fibres and ceramic fibres (chrystobaliet). |

Electron Microscopy is a microscopic technique in which
the electrons are used to form a clearer picture of the contents of
the material. The resolution of an electron microscope is much
higher than that of an ordinary microscope. Furthermore it can
ascertain exactly which elements a material contains. Further
information on the SEM and TEM microscopes can be found on the
Wikipedia website.
Fibrecount also regularly makes its SEM and TEM microscopes
available to its partners and local authorities for other
applications. The microscopes are therefore used for independent
quality testing, such as, for instance, forensic research following
a fire. For enquiries about the availability of our microscopes,
please contact Tom Rave on +31(0)10-437 85 41.
